District Partners is supporting a federal program seeking a Performance Test Engineer with deep Python development experience. This is a multi-year engagement in a mission-critical environment, working onsite in Ashburn to start. The team values dependable engineers who communicate well, understand modern automation patterns, and can operate in a fast-moving Agile setting. Once established, hybrid flexibility is available.
What You'll Do:
- Build and maintain Python-based test automation for complex data and API workflows
- Develop and execute automation test scripts across regression, functional, and system testing
- Generate test data and perform validation across JSON, XML, and data interfaces
- Create SQL or Unix scripts for data generation and test harness automation
- Verify results, produce test summaries, and manage defects from discovery through resolution
- Support performance and integration testing across distributed systems
- Partner with users and technical teams; document user stories and defects in JIRA
- Work within modern IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse, etc.) to support development and testing workflows
What You'll Have:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field
- 9+ years of technical experience within test automation or software engineering
- Strong hands-on Python 3 development experience (core requirement)
- Java 8+; Spring Boot
- Selenium; Rest Assured for API/web service automation
- JavaScript
- Experience with UI automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, Jest, etc.)
- Ability to build automation frameworks from scratch
- Experience automating test data generation for regression suites
- Oracle/Postgres; PL/SQL
- AWS exposure is beneficial
